Sidney Wise is a Professor of History at Carleton University. A prolific contributor to Canadian political, intellectual, and cultural history, Wise has written eleven books, as well as numerous articles and reports. Publications include: Men in Arms; A History of Warfare and its Interrelationships with Western Society (1970 with Richard A. Preston) and Canada Views the United States; Nineteenth-Century Political Attitudes (1967 with Robert Craig Brown).
Highly regarded in his field, Professor Wise has been named member of the Order of Canada and a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Former positions have included Chair of the Canadian Historical Association, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (Carleton University) and Director of the Directorate of History at the Department of National Defence.
